What special events are available for my child and family?

We love to celebrate our community! Throughout the year, we host events. Some are specific to students. Others are for the entire community. Opportunities include Dia de los Muertos Fall Festival, Nightlight Art Show, Thanksgiving Luncheon, Music Shows, Field Day and Fun Run, Family Picnic, Lunar New Year Parade, Black History Month Exhibition, Love is Love Dance, Students as Teachers, and Book Fair events. How can families get involved?

We want you to feel part of our community!

Reach out to your teacher for volunteer opportunities to support the classroom, which range from routine and special event support in the classroom or from home, depending on your interest and availability.

Please note: all volunteers on campus during the school day must pass VIPS background clearance:

STEP 1: Register online and complete the entire Online Application in Raptor Volunteer Management System and submit your application.

STEP 2: Once your application is completed you will see Pending Review on the screen.

STEP 3: An email regarding your approved status will be sent to your email address within 2-3 weeks.

                 If you do not receive an email, please follow-up with your designated school's VIPS Coordinator.

STEP 4: Once you are APPROVED, you are eligible to volunteer in any HISD school(s) for the current school year.
